Puri police detained a young man on Saturday for secretly recording video footage of the sacred interiors of the Jagannath Temple using a hidden spy camera. The accused, Bhaskar Samant, used the concealed device to film inside the temple despite a strict ban on photography and mobile phones. Singhadwar police caught him in the act and took him into custody.
Police Seize Spy Camera with Footage
Officers seized the spy camera and discovered footage of the temple’s interior stored in its memory. They immediately began interrogating Samant and launched a detailed investigation. However, authorities have not yet released an official statement on the matter.
Repeated Security Breaches Raise Concerns
This incident has once again raised serious concerns about security at the Jagannath Temple. In recent months, similar cases have sparked outrage among devotees.
Earlier in March, a young woman recorded and shared unauthorized videos from inside the temple premises, causing widespread controversy. Her footage included areas such as the west gate near the Nrusingha Temple, as well as well-known landmarks like Puri Railway Station and the nearby beach.
Authorities Tighten Security Measures
Temple authorities are now intensifying security measures to prevent further breaches. Despite existing bans on photography and videography, people continue to exploit security loopholes. Officials are taking strict action to protect the temple’s sanctity and prevent similar incidents in the future.
As investigations continue, security forces remain on high alert to ensure that no one violates the temple’s sacred rules again.
