Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced plans to set up a massive steel plant in the Patna area of Keonjhar district, bringing a major boost to the state’s industrial landscape.

Speaking at the 48th Annual Day celebration of Chandra Sekhar College in Champua on Sunday, the Chief Minister shared that the project will involve an investment between Rs 30,000 crore and Rs 40,000 crore. The state government has already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with JSW and POSCO, two major players in the steel industry, to bring this ambitious project to life.

“We are in continuous discussions with all stakeholders to ensure the smooth execution of the project as soon as possible,” he assured.

Rs 1 Lakh Crore Investment for Keonjhar’s Industrial Growth

Beyond the steel plant, the Chief Minister announced a much larger vision for Keonjhar’s development. The district is set to receive around Rs 1 lakh crore in investments for various industrial projects aimed at accelerating its economic progress.

“Industrial projects will be developed in multiple locations, including Barbil, Joda, Champua, Suakati, Anandapur, and Harichandanpur. The government is making all necessary arrangements to facilitate these developments,” he stated.

Odisha’s Investment Boom: Rs 17 Lakh Crore Secured

Highlighting Odisha’s growing appeal as an investment hub, CM Majhi also spoke about the remarkable success of Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave 2025. The event has helped the state attract a whopping Rs 17 lakh crore in total investments.

“So far, 145 MoUs have been signed for projects worth Rs 13 lakh crore, which are expected to create around 9 lakh job opportunities for the people of Odisha,” he added.

With these mega projects in the pipeline, Odisha is gearing up for an industrial revolution that promises to bring significant economic growth and employment opportunities across the state.
