The South Eastern Railway’s Chakradharpur Division has announced temporary disruptions to several train services between Rourkela and Bondamunda in Odisha. This is due to modernisation and safety-related track work being undertaken from April 21 to April 26, 2025.
This initiative is part of a larger project to commission multi-tracking lines, which will help improve the safety, punctuality, and overall capacity of train operations in the region.
What Kind of Work is Being Done?
The railway authorities are implementing track linking and non-interlocking operations, which are essential steps for the commissioning of new multi-tracking lines. This means the existing tracks are being modernised and additional tracks are being integrated. The goal is to:
- Improve the safety and efficiency of train operations
- Reduce delays and congestion in the future
- Strengthen infrastructure for increased rail traffic
