Odisha Police Unmask Sex Trafficking Network in Bhadrak with Undercover Sting

Published On:

In a significant breakthrough last night, police dismantled a sex trafficking network operating out of a hotel in Odisha’s Bhadrak district. An undercover officer posed as a customer to infiltrate the operation. After negotiating with a sex worker and renting a room, the officer’s cover was blown when a swift police raid rescued the worker and secured the undercover agent.

Undercover Operation Unveils Bribery

During the raid, authorities discovered that hotel staff had pocketed a ₹2,000 bribe from the officer to arrange the illicit service. This led to the arrest of both the sex worker involved and the hotel caretaker, who are now facing further questioning.

Widespread Raids Across Multiple Locations

The crackdown wasn’t confined to a single venue. Police extended their efforts to additional sites across the district, including hotels in Charampa and Asura. In one instance, officers rescued a sex worker from a tailoring shop near Charampa and detained a young man found in a public restroom. Another rescue took place at a different hotel, where yet another sex worker was freed.

A Network Spanning Hotels and Rental Properties

According to law enforcement, the sex racket had expanded its operations to several hotels and rented accommodations throughout Bhadrak district. With mounting evidence of a larger network, police are intensifying their raids to dismantle the operation entirely.

Continuing Investigation and Arrests

To date, three sex workers have been rescued and two young men have been arrested. Authorities anticipate further arrests as the investigation continues.

This comprehensive operation highlights the police’s commitment to rooting out illegal activities and ensuring the safety of vulnerable individuals across the region.
