Odisha District Judge Written Exam: Not a Single Candidate Passes

Published On:

In a surprising outcome, not one candidate passed the written examination for 45 district judge positions, meaning no one has advanced to the interview stage.

The Orissa High Court had opened applications for two groups. One category was for law graduates with at least seven years of experience as advocates, competing for 31 vacancies. The other was for judicial officers in the senior division of civil judges, who needed a minimum of five years’ experience, contesting 14 posts. Applicants had to be between 35 and 45 years old.

Reports indicate that 283 advocates and 83 judicial officers from across the state were eligible to take the exam. Separate written tests for each group were conducted on January 5, 2025. Advocates faced three papers, each worth 100 marks, while the judicial officers sat for two papers of 75 marks each, with each exam lasting two hours.

However, a notice from the Registrar (Examination) of the High Court on February 17 confirmed that no candidate from either group qualified in the written examination for direct recruitment.
