The Odisha Health and Family Welfare Department is all set to launch two major health schemes:
- Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana-Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PMJAY-GJAY)
- Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY)
These schemes will begin in Odisha starting tomorrow, and to support their rollout, the state government has introduced a new IT system to be used by all hospitals registered under the schemes.
Why the New IT Platform?
The new platform is meant to:
- Make the process of verifying beneficiaries and submitting claims more efficient.
- Ensure smooth coordination between hospitals and government health authorities.
However, since this is a new system, the government is aware that there could be technical glitches initially.
Key Instruction: Don’t Deny Treatment Due to Technical Issues
Hospitals have been clearly instructed that no existing beneficiary should be denied cashless treatment, even if the new system is not working properly.
To guide hospitals, the department has issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to follow when there are IT issues.
SOP for Hospitals: Step-by-Step Guide
If hospitals face any technical issues while using the new health portal, they must follow these steps:
1. Check Beneficiary Eligibility
Even if the new portal doesn’t work, hospitals can verify a patient’s eligibility using the old portal:
Visit: https://gjayportal.odisha.gov.in
Click on “PMJAY Beneficiary”.
You can searchfor the beneficiary using:
- New Health Card ID (PMJAY-GJAY)
- Aadhaar Number
- Ration Card Number
- Old Health Card Number
2. Admit the Patient
If the patient is found eligible in the old system, treatment must begin immediately—no delays due to portal issues.
3. Register Later in New Portal
Once the technical issue is fixed, hospitals can register the patient in the new PMJAY portal.
4. Inform the Authorities
For any patient admitted using the old system during technical failure, hospitals must send an email to the government health authority:
shas@odisha.gov.in
Who to Contact for Help?
In case of technical problems, hospitals can reach out to the following support teams:
- SHAS District Coordinator (DC)
- Nodal Doctor
- State Technical Helpline: 155369
- SHAS Control Room: 0674-2620500
The Odisha government wants a seamless transition to a new IT system for its flagship health schemes. While the system might face initial hiccups, hospitals must ensure that no one is denied healthcare. The SOP gives them a clear path to follow in such cases, with backup options and support lines in place.
