Inox Solar Secures Land in Odisha for ₹4,000 Cr Solar Module Plant, Eyes 3,400 Jobs

Published On:

The INOXGFL Group just got the green light from the Odisha government to build a large-scale solar cell and solar module manufacturing plant in Dhenkanal, Odisha. This isn’t just another factory—it’s a massive step toward clean energy, job creation, and economic development for the state.

What’s Being Built?

INOX Solar (a part of INOXGFL’s clean energy wing, Inox Clean) is planning to set up a 4.8-gigawatt (GW) solar cell and 4.8 GW solar module manufacturing unit. To give some perspective, 1 GW can power nearly 7 lakh homes, so 4.8 GW is a huge addition to India’s solar energy capacity.

The plant will be built on about 78 acres of land officially allocated by the state government.

Why It Matters

This project is not just about building solar panels. It’s about building Odisha’s future:

  • Investment Size: INOXGFL is investing ₹4,000 crore in this state-of-the-art facility.
  • Jobs: The project is expected to create over 3,400 jobs, offering direct and indirect employment across various sectors—from engineering to logistics and local support services.
  • Economic Growth: With this setup, Odisha is positioning itself as a hub for green manufacturing. It aligns perfectly with India’s national push toward renewable energy and self-sufficiency (Atmanirbhar Bharat).

What Leaders Are Saying

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said this project is part of his vision to make Odisha a leader in green energy. He emphasized that it would drive sustainable industrial growth and create thousands of job opportunities, helping the state’s economy in the long run.

Devansh Jain, Executive Director of INOXGFL Group, said that the land allocation was a strategic move. It gives INOX Solar the space and support to scale its operations, contribute to India’s clean energy journey, and help local communities grow.

The Bigger Picture

This isn’t happening in isolation. Earlier this year, INOXGFL had already declared their plans for the ₹4,000 crore investment. Now with the land in hand and government approval via the High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA), things are moving quickly.

Odisha is clearly becoming a hotspot for big investments in energy and industry. In fact, the state recently attracted over ₹30,000 crore worth of investment proposals in a Delhi investors’ meet, including other big projects like the ₹61,000 crore naphtha cracker plant by IOCL.

Key Takeaways

  • Project: 4.8 GW solar cell + 4.8 GW solar module plant
  • Location: Dhenkanal, Odisha
  • Investment: ₹4,000 crore
  • Jobs: 3,400+
  • Land: 78 acres
  • Impact: Supports India’s green energy goals, boosts Odisha’s economy, creates jobs
